How we make peptides in the lab:
We use a precise method called Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS). Here's the process:

Start with the anchor: We attach the first amino acid to a solid resin bead (think of it as our workspace)

Add protective groups: We temporarily protect certain parts of the amino acid to prevent unwanted reactions

Build the chain: We add amino acids one at a time, forming peptide bonds in the exact sequence needed

Release and purify: Once complete, we carefully remove the peptide from the resin, remove all protective groups, and purify it

Freeze-dry: Finally, we lyophilise (freeze-dry) the peptide to create a stable powder
